Mac Drivers For Hp Laserjet 1022

MacBook Pro does not recognize my HP LaserJet 1022 after its OS was recently reinstalled. I've downloaded the latest driver from the HP site, but suspect it's not the right driver since the printer is 15 years old. I'd like to keep the printer as it works very well.

Use Easy Start ( -en/drivers/selfservice/hp-easy-start/7376041 - make sure your OS is correct) and see if your printer is supported. If not, or this doesn't solve the issue, move on to the next steps.

Mac Drivers For Hp Laserjet 1022

See if you can print. If not, continue:Download (and install) this package (From HP FTP) which will update drivers AND THE CERTIFICATE: _Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essen... If the link comes up blank, try right/control clicking and saving it. Or right/control click and copy link, and paste into browser bar. If you get the malware warning part-way through the installation, go to System Preferences>Security & Privacy where you can tick a box and unblock the HP option.

Then reinstall your printer using: Apple Logo (Upper Left of Screen)/System Preferences/Printers & Scanners, and use the default drivers. If drivers do not show up, download and install the 5.1 driver package from here: =en_US . Then restart your computer.

Due to a recent update to macOS Big Sur v11.4 the HP LaserJet 1022 stopped working on my MacBook Air. The error message upon sending something to the printer was "Unable to Print." Apple support suggested I uninstall the re-install the printer, which did not correct the issue. Apple then sent me to HP for support.

The HP setup guide for the 1022 recognizes macOS Big Sur v11.2 (i.e. not v11.4) as the latest version, and after downloading it the Printer Software Installer fails and gives the message "This volume does not meet the requirements for this update." So, I am unsuccessful at reinstalling the LaserJet 1022.

My printer suddenly stopped connecting with my iMac, so I tried to download an appropriate driver afresh. The HP website directed me to install HP Easy Start; after I opened it, it told me I had to download and install HP Smart instead. When I opened HP Smart, it said it can't find the printer. It looks as though this is because HP Smart requires a wireless printer, and my LaserJet 1022 is connected only by USB cable. (The HP Smart screen says "connect this computer to the same wireless network as the printer, then select add printer." It gives no option to connect via cable instead.)

4. When it asks if you want HP Smart to install the driver, cancel out of that screen and do it manually. It will ask you if you want to download the software to install the drivers. This is where the problems arise. Do it manually. Easy.

I just have the plain 1022 - there are no letters after the 1022 on the front of the printer. If it's suppose to be listed elsewhere then I don't know about it all I can see is that on the front it says LASERJET 1022 and nothing else.

In Big Sur, having deleted the old printer and having selected HP Laserjet 1022, the only printer software option that appears is HP Laserjet Series PCL 4/5 (the same happens if I choose the 1020) and it doesn't work. I tried to download the printer driver for the 1022 from the HP website but when I try to install it I get a message saying 'This volume does not meet the requirements for this update'. The same happens if I choose the 1020. If anyone else has any more ideas about how to solve this please let me know.

Today with AirPrint and more ubiquitous macOS support you can just about print to any printer you can buy on the market. However, there still exist some printers that support Windows only clients. I for example have an older HP 1018 printer of which there is no official macOS support. But fret not! You just might be able to find a printer driver that is "close enough" for your printer to make it recognized on macOS. Here's how I got my HP 1018 laserjet printer to work.

Luckily for us, HP tends to name it's various printers with similar feature sets with similar model numbers. So, for example, since I have an HP laserjet 1018 printer, I know that a similarly named HP laserjet like the HP laserjet 1010 or the HP laserjet 1022 (opens in new tab) may share some features with my 1018. So we try to find a best match by iteration until we get the features we absolutely want to work. Note that you may just only get printing working but extra features like duplexing or scanning might not function. But at least you can print. These instructions assume your printer is powered up and connected as expected by the manufacturer.

As with any hack, success with this "close enough" strategy will vary by printer and by manufacturer. I also have to live with ignoring some the of the options that come with the 1022 that don't exist on my 1018 in the print dialogs when I print something. No matter. Working printer. Or, you can just buy a Mac supported printer like the HP laserjet 1022 (opens in new tab). What about you? Have a hack or tweak you want to mention? Lets know in the comments!

You might want to look for newer drivers on HP's site. This HP support page says that Apple no longer provides print drivers through Apple Software Update (not sure about drivers on Apple Support Web pages), and has a link to HP's driver site.

I had the same issue before, and a colleague told me to try this site for software and drivers, where I luckily found one for my HP printer too. Give it a try if you can find one that will work for your HP printer. 2ff7e9595c
